How August unfolded

There have been daffodils, violets and ranunculus.

There have been time with loved ones, time with just the two of us, and time alone.
Alex has been on numerous business trips, and I've helped my Mum move house.

There have been many, many preparations for moving ourselves...

Less than one month to go.

Covet

If it is not a sin, it probably should be. But I covet a whole lotta things...

Mostly antique furniture,
vintage kitchenalia,

and

a never-ending supply of ranunculus.

I am beginning to put together design and decor ideas for a home*. Which sees me trawling blogs, instagram, and etsy like it's my job. Which it kind of is these days.

I would love a kitchen with open shelves, styled with silverware, flowers, milk glass, and ceramic treasures.

An armoire would be fantastic. A beautiful piece of furniture, and so functional too.

I think I will be waiting a long time for the scientific discovery that allows me to have ranunculus in my home, all of the time.

Links to love: September edition

Why are there pink magnolias on bare branches in winter, and white magnolias on glossy green trees in summer? This is the question I asked my Mum recently. HERE is the answer for all you readers who don't have a green-fingered parent close to hand.

My Dad gave me a sweet, mossy birds nest on the weekend. It makes me want to start a COLLECTION. (Only nests that have been blown out of trees, of course).

I am sharing this just for the CUTE FACTOR!

FIONA has given me a supreme case of wanderlust.

Aesthetic perfection HERE, HEREHERE.

This is the SWEETEST idea, and perfect keepsake.

This was the INSPIRATION for seeking out my own milk glass vase. Success! If you are ever in the Snowy Mountains, stop by Stone Cottage, Berridale where I found the above milk glass vase that I promptly filled with white ranunculus.

I mean, seriously, RANUNCULUS make me stupidly happy.

THE MRS BOX just launched a new collection. Yes, I had to buy another one to join the one I was given for my BIRTHDAY. They are hard to resist.

A simple, fresh, spring MEAL I am itching to make/eat.

THIS new-born shoot incorporating flowers is beautiful.

This would be a DREAM COME TRUE to attend.

Wishing you happy spring days.

Adoration

I just can't help it. I love ranunculus too much. I can't, and won't, stop arranging them in the vase, standing back to admire them, and then snapping photographs of them. I'm trying to hold on to the beauty for as long as possible. I know they will eventually wither and droop, but these particular ranunculus have been hanging out on my coffee table for nine days now. Stunning, gorgeous, pretty, divine. I just can't get enough. Enjoy!

They even made an appearance in the guest bathroom.

Happy Monday!

A floral feeling

Around the middle of the year I acknowledged a 'feeling' that I had spent the best part of eight or nine years dismissing. The feeling that I might like to be a florist. When I was around 16 years old I thought that I'd really like to be a florist. That was, if I didn't adore school and learning, and wasn't planning on pursuing a university degree and a career in...something. But those things, were in fact, my biggest priorities. I loved history and literature. I was a diligent student. And I know this because 'diligence' was a word that was used frequently by my teachers on my report cards. And so, floristry was well and truly buried. Floristry was a career path for girls who dropped out of school mid-way through. Not for me. I had a university degree to obtain in...something.

I did get that university degree (and it wasn't a fun, or fast ride). But it meant nothing to me. It still doesn't. University was quite simply put: a disappointment. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, what jobs I might be best suited to, and what career path I was capable of tackling. I have a degree in something. Something I struggle to articulate when faced with the questions, "what is anthropology?" and, "what can you do with a degree in anthropology?".

Floristry. That's what I've decided to do with my degree in anthropology. And in September I took the first step. I started attending floristry school.

So, read along as I document my progress from floristry student to florist extraordinaire! I hope to grow Moss & Vine from simply a student's blog spot, to extra-curricular creative outlet, to flourishing business that will pay my bills and leave a little left over to fill my house with ranunculus every Spring.

Warm regards from a ranunculus lover,
