Imitation

I love botanical art. (In fact my brain is very preoccupied with ART currently.) This is a beautiful albeit poor substitute for the real thing, alas, peonies have a short season in the southern hemisphere. Peony season is in full bloom in the northern hemisphere right now. My instagram, blogger, and facebook is crammed with images of peonies being HARVESTED, ARRANGED and ADMIRED. I didn't want to miss out on the peony love. Hence the botanical art.

Peony enduring friendship // nobility // peace // honour // a happy life // good health // prosperity // female beauty // reproduction.

Famed explorer Marco Polo described peonies as 'roses as big as cabbages'. Peonies are the floral emblem of China. A peony plant can live to be 100 years old. Peony plants love potassium, and require cold temperatures to bloom readily.
